Located on the right bank of the river Momon, quiet and peaceful tributary of the Amazon, AMAZON CAMP is specially designed to harmonize with the surrounding dense jungle. Built with materials typical of the area with electric lighting, rooms are protected by screen nets and all have private bathrooms, with beautiful views of the river and jungle. The lodge is able to provide a comfortable and authentic experience.
Amazon Camp was the first lodge that was established in the Peruvian Amazon and currently has 20 comfortable bungalows with capacity for 72 people and a nice restaurant with 80 seats, a cozy bar and a comfortable hammocks room, plus service of telephone and personal attention.
We have specialized jungle guides and a deck with two riverboats and there is extensive primary forest. A few minutes from our facilities, following a beautiful jungle path, there is a native ethnic community of "Boras" where the Reality Show "Amazonas - Famous lost in the jungle" was filmed by Chilevisión. The head of this community, Rafael Flores was the emblem of the brand Peru, in the commercial "Loreto Italy".
Full Day in rivers
Leaving the city of Iquitos from Bellavista Nanay port, our tour begins with a navigation through the waters of one of the seven natural wonders of the world, we refer to the great Amazon River ... While cruising, our guide will give an explanation of the origin of the waters of this natural wonder, and also about surrounding towns of the river and of the wild species of animal and plant world that inhabit it !!! In a journey of about 1 hour to reach Fundo Don Pedrito there is Paiches to observe of up to 300 kilograms, you can feed the white and black cayman and observe the Victoria Regia (giant lilly pad) and the piranhas fighting for their food. Later we navigate the Amazon going to an animal sanctuary where you come into contact with different species of monkeys, sloths, macaws, toucans, prehistoric turtles and the great Anaconda, a boa constrictor about 7 meters in length. It may be gotten stunning photographs with these animals to take for souvenir.
Finally we will eat in the Amazon Camp lodge and in the afternoon we'll go to the tribe of the Boras Indians who dress with tree barks of the “chanchama”. You will also learn the APU Rafael who starred in the Peru brand in the commercial "Loreto Italy" as well as the family of Aroldo, famous for the documentary of Chilevisión "Amazonas - Famous lost in the jungle".
The jungle and we (2D/1N)
In this program you will spend two days and one night in the jungle. This will let you know the jungle on day trips and also at night. An unforgettable experience not to be missed. In addition to navigate the Amazon and meet the caymans, anacondas, sloths, Paiches, and Boras on the first day, you can find a vantage point to observe the Amazon and its tributaries from a height of 35 meters, plus reach a large tree of Sequoya (Lupuna or Ceiba) of more than 70 meters hight which you may even try to climb a few meters using it’s vines. Later you’ll reach a small waterfall in the jungle and in the afternoon of the second day will go on the Momon river to fish piranhas is an adventure.
Staying overnight at the lodge will allow further to see the sunsets and sunrises too (if you want to get up at 5; 30 am to bird watching). The program of 2 days and 1 night, is a very balanced program that will ensure you and your family a unique and unforgettable experience.
In love with the jungle (3D/2N)
Our program of 3 days and 2 nights is preferred by our customers, because with it you can experience the Amazon in its entirety, day and night hikes to know the most exotic animals in the world, as Paiches 300 kilos, cayman, Victoria regia (giant lilies pad), piranhas, giant anacondas, sloths, different species of monkeys, toucans, macaws, exotic tribes, riverine communities, giant trees 70 meters high, small waterfalls amidst the lush jungle, etc.
The third day will add an exclusive tour to the "Pilpintuwasi" or butterfly garden, ideal for exploring the whole process of breeding butterflies, along with knowledge of rare species of monkeys, including spider monkeys, howler monkey, handsome monkeys, among others. You also will meet anteaters, agoutis, the largest rodent in the world known as Capibara or Ronsoco.
Besides spending 2 nights in the jungle, listening to the sounds of night birds, the smell of rain in a wonderful place like Amazon Camp makes. An ideal choice for you and your entire family adventure.
Pacaya - Samiria Reserve
The Pacaya Samiria National Reserve is a protected area located in the Loreto Peru, the Peruvian Amazon region. With an area of 2,080,000 ha (20,800 square kilometers) is the largest National Reserve of Peru. Here you will find wild nature and much of it unexplored, spectacular and especially lots and lots of adventure landscapes.
We begin with a walking tour of the beautiful surroundings of the Plaza de Armas (Main Square), where we see the Iron House, a building designed by renowned architect Gustave Eiffel. We will also see the Palace Hotel which is one of the most emblematic of the city of Iquitos buildings, built along the lines of the European architecture of the time. Stroll along the Malecon Tarapaca there are numerous buildings declared historical monuments, until the Amazonian Museum, historic building where 60 sculptures made by the artist Felipe Lettersten, representing the major ethnic groups in the Peruvian Amazon shows: Shipibos, Boras, Yaguas, Witotos, Ashánicas, Mayarunas and Aguaruna. Later we visit the resort Quistococha, with its white sand beach and numerous plants and animals in the area. Finally we visit the Manatee Rescue Center, learning about their customs and having the opportunity to feed them and touch them. They are very affectionate and is a very special experience for the younger ones.
Amazon Camp offers personalized tours and special events, such as experiential tourism in the community of San Antonio, Programs with bird watching, programs for Angling and even a special program for newlyweds or those who want to celebrate their anniversary with our Bora wedding program, consisting of a wedding ritual at the tribe of the Boras, an exciting and unforgettable experience. Likewise also we perform the ritual of Ayahuasca safely.
Our films: famous artists who stayed at our hostel Amazon Camp
In the lodge of the stars they have filmed numerous films of international stature as Predator with Arnold Schwarzenegger, in 1987. It was certainly one of the major international productions filmed by 80% in the jungle of our hostel.
It was definitely the film that made Jeniffer Lopez to leap to fame. She was in Amazon Camp filming this interesting film. Similarly you are not to miss. She has already visited us ... 'now we only miss you !!!
The film Pantaleón and the visitors was filmed in Peru in 1999 by Francisco J. Lombardi, who had already adapted for cinema another Vargas Llosa’s book, The city and the dogs. It was attended by actors such as the Peruvian Salvador del Solar (in the role of Pantaleon Pantoja) and Colombian Angie Cepeda (in the role of Olga Arellano, nicknamed in this film as "the colombian").
The new film from Argentine director Gianfranco Quattrini, is a madcap musical tragicomedy that is premised to join the Argentine rock with Peruvian cumbia, in a psychedelic journey that starts in Buenos Aires of the 60s and continues in Iquitos today, participating in a starring role our magdyel ugaz, the famous Teresita. She was in Amazon Camp only missing you now.
The reality show Amazon, with its slogan Famous lost in the jungle was created by Chilevisión. This production raised to 10 participants must survive in the jungle of Peru, and therefore should be adapted to the conditions in which indigenous Bora people live. It was filmed entirely in Amazon Camp, highlighting the magesty of their forest and the native communities that comprise it.
"You are loretanos, you are entitled to take off the coats". That is the call that a group of Peruvians do to the inhabitants of Loreto, Italy, on the second internal campaign of Marca Peru which was officially presented in Iquitos. In the video you can see how a group of people - the Peruvian artist Christian Bendayán, the shaman Luis Culquitón, supermodel Claudia Portocarrero, family bora apu Rafael Flores, the White cook Cornejo, the chef Pedro Miguel Schiaffino, the music group the Wemblers and actors Carlos Alcantara and Gonzalo Torres arrives in the iconic red bus Brand Peru to this Italian city to publicize the attractions of this Amazon region. Needless to say, this advertising spot worked with the tribe of Boras of the Amazon Camp and those who will know when you visit our lodge, being able to take pictures with the bora apu Rafael.
