Itinerary

Day 01: ... (Lima) / Iquitos / Nauta / Pacaya Samiria National Reserve (L-D)

  • 09.00 In the morning, reception at the airport and transfer to our operations office in Iquitos (brief orientation on the main tourist attractions of the city along the way).

  • 09:30 Transfer to Nauta village (about 100 Km / 2 hours from Iquitos).

  • 12:00 Navigation of waters up on the Maranon River towards the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve (240 Km. SO Nauta / approximately 3 and a half hours).

  • 13:30 Observation on the way of a variety of birds including herons, hawks, horned screamers, Jacanas, parrots and parakeets. It is also possible to observe dolphins in the river.

  • 14:00 Box Lunch on board.

  • 16:30 Arrive at Checkpoint 1 (PV 1) where we register to enter the Pacaya Samiria Reserve.

  • 17:00 Arrival in the community “January 20” where the first itinerant camp with double and triple rooms and shared bathrooms will be installed.

  • 18:00 Excursion to the lake lagoon Huaylla (25 minutes) following the course of Yanayacu - Pucate.

  • 20:00 Dinner and overnight at camp.

Day 02: Pacaya Samiria National Reserve (B-L-D)

  • 5:30 Watching birds as they leave their nests in search of food along the river, including cotingas, macaws, parrots, king vultures and probably the harpy eagle (Harpy Eagle) at dawn.

  • 08:00 Breakfast at camp.

  • 9:00 Excursion following the course of the River Pucate for 3 hours to reach the lake IRICAHUA. On the way you will see giant trees as Lupuna (Ceiba pentandra), the Capirona, the Capinurí (scabra Heliocóstilis) and birds like the toucan (Pteroglossus), Red Macaw (Ara macao) Yellow Macaw (Ara ararauna), Garza white Large (Egreta alba), Kingfisher (Chloroceryle).

  • 13:00 Box Lunch on board.

  • 17:00 Return to the campsite and optionally camping in the forest to hear the sound of the jungle and observe different tarantulas, rodents, birds and nocturnal monkeys.

  • 19:00 Dinner and overnight.

Day 03: Pacaya Samiria National Reserve (B-L-D)

  • 5:30 Observation of sunrise and listening and watching different species of birds (optional).y escucha y avistamiento de diferentes especies de aves (opcional).

  • 08:00 Breakfast at camp.

  • 09:00 Tour the Yanayacu – Pucate rivers where you can watch birds and fish. Among the fish species found in the reserve are the piranha (Serrasalmus), shad (Brycun americus), sardines (Triportheus), among others. while spotting pink and gray dolphins.

  • 13:00 Lunch.

  • 15:00 Evening canoe ride to appreciate the landscapes of the reserve at sunset. where it will be possible to see pink dolphins (Inia geoffrenssis), "taricayas" as it is locally known river turtles (Podocnemis unifilis) and probably River wolfs (Ptenerura brasiliensis).

  • 19:00 Dinner and overnight at camp.

Day 04: Pacaya Samiria National Reserve (B-L-D)

  • 08:00 Breakfast at camp.

  • 09:00 Navigating the Yanayacu - Pucate where it will be possible to see pink dolphins (Inia geoffrenssis), "taricayas" as it is locally known river turtles (Podocnemis unifilis) and probably river wolfs (Ptenerura brasiliensis).

  • 12:00 Arrival at the place where the next camp will be placed.

  • 13:00 Lunch on the river overlooking the beautiful landscape.

  • 15:00 Walk recognition to appreciate the exquisite flora and fauna of this area.

  • 19:00 Dinner at camp.

  • 20:00 Overnight stay

Day 05: Pacaya Samiria National Reserve (B-L-D)

  • 08:00 Breakfast at camp.

  • 09:00 Exploring of the tributaries and lakes of Yanayacu - Pucate for observing the biggest fish of the Amazon known as the Paiche, different species of Gamitanas (Colossoma macropomum) and Pacos (Piaractus brachypomus), Tower fish and if we are lucky we can see the Jaguar, Peccaries, Capybaras, Anteaters, Tapirs, etc.

  • 12:00 Return to Soledad village or to Huarmy island for camping at the site and Dinner.

  • 15:00 In the evening a night boat ride in order to observe alligators of different sizes, also different species of nocturnal birds, turtles, large rodents like capybaras (capybara) and perhaps large anacondas or other species of snakes.

  • 19:00 Dinner and overnight camping or at some peasant house.

Day 06: Pacaya Samiria National Reserve (B-L-D)

  • 08:00 Breakfast at camp.

  • 09:00 Exploration towards El Dorado Lake to observe the biggest fish of the Amazon known as the Paiche, different species of Gamitanas (Colossoma macropomum) and Pacos (Piaractus brachypomus), Tower fish and if we are lucky we can see the Jaguar, Peccaries, Capybaras, Anteaters, Tapirs, etc.

  • 16:00 Return to Soledad village or to Huarmy island camping at the site and Dinner.

  • 19:00 Overnight camping or at some peasant house.

Day 07: Pacaya Samiria National Reserve (B-L-D)

  • 08:00 Breakfast at camp.

  • 09:00 Morning tour along the Yanayacu – Pucate rivers to Chingana village, where is located the check point 2 (PV 2) where you can watch birds and fish. Among the fish species found in the reserve are the piranha (Serrasalmus), shad (Brycun americus), sardines (Triportheus), etc.

  • 12:00 Lunch at noon.

  • 15:00 Botanical excursion during the afternoon in search of medicinal plants and trees, referring to basic survival techniques in the jungle.

  • 16:00 In the afternoon piranha fishing and other types of fish and watching the otters.

  • 17:00 Evening canoe ride to appreciate the landscapes of the reserve at sunset.

  • 19:00 Dinner and overnight at camp.

Day 07: Pacaya Samiria National Reserve / Nauta / Iquitos / (Lima) .... (B)

  • 08:00 Breakfast at camp.

  • 09:00 Navigating the Yanayacu - Pucate where it will be possible to see pink dolphins (Inia geoffrenssis), "taricayas" as it is locally known river turtles (Podocnemis unifilis) and probably river wolfs (Ptenerura brasiliensis).

  • 12:00 Return to the city of Nauta and transfer to Iquitos.

  • 15:00 Transfer to your hotel or to the airport as the case at appropriate times.
