Eco Tour with Amazon Camp Lodge

"Knowing the Ucamara or the Birth of the Amazon"

We visited the city of Nauta and navigate to the begining of the Amazon at the confluence of the Ucayali and Maranon rivers in what is known as Ucamara marking the birth of the mighty Amazon River, following to the viewpoint of Grau, the tower lookout of Amazon.

Itinerary : Iquitos / Nauta / Iquitos (L)

  • 09:00 Reception at the hotel so start a travesy of all day looking for the famouse birth place where Amazon is born. Transfer by road in a private car to the city of Nauta located about 110km. and using the new road Iquitos-Nauta. The route crosses a great diversity of ecosystems including wetlands of the leafy forest of National Tourist Park Quistococha; lushy and growing vegetation with white sand soil across National Reserve Allpahuayo Mishana, privileged place for observing birdlife among which include endemic species.

  • 10:30 Arrival to Nauta, this historic small village of eastern Peru that in the nineteenth century got way to become the most important river port in the Amazon.

  • 11:00 Sightseeing tour on foot to reach the Laguna de SAPI SAPI, where you can feed large fish, paiches, turtles, charapas, etc and also visit the “Laguna del Amor” (love lagoon).

  • 12:00 Box lunch or typical lunch.

  • 13:00 Boarding a boat that will take us by the Maranon River to the confluence with the Ucayali River, where the Amazon is born.

  • 15:00 After boating for two hours will reach the village of Grau where is located the Amazon lookout tower. You will also have the opportunity to buy crafts from the area at the tower. On the way back you can enjoy piranha fishing in a nearby oxbow lake.

  • 17:30 Return back to the city of Nauta, embarking on a private car back to the city of Iquitos, moving everybody to the offices of the company at the main square then to your hotel.
